Team Spirit and Team Liquid each swept two matches on Wednesday to soar to the top of their respective groups as round-robin play continued in FISSURE Universe: Episode 6.
In best-of-two play at the $250,000 tournament, Team Spirit defeated Gaimin Gladiators 2-0 and AVULUS 2-0 to improve to 3-0-0 in Group A. In the Gaimin Gladiators match, Illya 'Yatoro' Mulyarchuk of Ukraine led the way with a 25-9-26 kill-death-assist ratio. Versus AVULUS, Mulyarchuk continued to excel with a 35-9-29 ratio.
Team Liquid (2-1-0) jumped to the top of the five-team Group B standings with 2-0 victories over Aurora Gaming and Virtus.pro. The Aurora Gaming match featured Poland's Michal 'Nisha' Jankowski racking up a 28-8-30 K-D-A ratio to lead Team Liquid. Jankowski reigned against Virtus.pro as well, posting a 20-5-22 ratio.
In other Group A round-robin play Wednesday, Team Falcons (2-0-1) moved into second place with 2-0 sweeps of BetBoom Team and AVULUS. Oliver 'skiter' Lepko of Slovakia led the way for Team Falcons with a 34-4-29 K-D-A ratio in that pair of matches.
In other Group B round-robin play Wednesday, Parivision and Aurora Gaming split 1-1 and Team Tidebound swept Virtus.pro 2-0.
Group-stage round-robin action continues with five matches Thursday and concludes with three matches Friday. Once the final standings in each group are tabulated, the top team from each group earns a spot in the upper-bracket playoffs. The second- and third-place teams from each group are placed in the lower bracket while the fourth- and fifth-place teams are done.
The six playoff teams will determine the champion during double-elimination play on Saturday and Sunday. All matches are best-of-three except for Sunday's best-of-five grand final.
